Join us for the Ohio River Sternwheel Festival in Marietta, Ohio!
Warm memories are made in Marietta, Ohio, home of the Ohio River Sternwheel Festival. One by one, from up river and down, the sternwheelers arrive in Marietta, Ohio, home of the American Sternwheel Association. They come to the Riverboat Town, to have some good ol' fashioned fun at the event of the year - the Ohio River Sternwheel Festival!
All events are FREE, and the atmosphere is festive and friendly. Marietta invites you to come early and stay late. Enjoy the continuous weekend entertainment, food and refreshments from the various vendors and enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of the 40th Annual Ohio River Sternwheel Festival!
FIREWORKS
Pyrotecnico has produced the Ohio River Sternwheel Festival Fireworks, each year better than the last.
Tradition, creativity, innovation and technology are the ingredients that have set Pyrotechnico apart from other firework manufacturers for years. The tradition began in 1889 when Constantino Vitale founded the Vitale Fireworks Manufacturing Company in a small village near Naples, Italy. The company was later moved to the United States and incorporated in New Castle, Pennsylvania – which would later become the "Firework Capital of America."
Today, the century old family tradition has been refined with technological advancements and a new generation of ideas. Renamed Pyrotechnico, the company is run by the fourth generation of the Vitale family.
The company has continued to set the standard for pyrotechnic excellence through out the United States and the world, becoming the fourth largest fireworks company in the nation. Pyrotechnico produces over 2,000 fireworks displays per year in 38 states and internationally.
The fireworks will be held Saturday, Sept. 12 at 9:30 p.m. from barges on the Ohio River and will be choreographed to music. The musical program will broadcast by radio station WNUS 107.1 FM.
