Ride the Rails

Date:
10/18/2012

This trip you will relive the thrills of yesteryear. We will start this day by visiting Historic Jefferson Depot Village the quaint preserved living history village. Tour the 1918 “Red Caboose”. Next we are off to ride the rails on the Ashtabula, Carson & Jefferson Scenic Line. You will travel through scenic woodlands and farmland as you hear stories of this staging yard Norfolk Southern’s coal operation in historic Ashtabula Harbor. We will stop at Grand Rivers Cellars for lunch and wine tastings, then off to Victorian Perambulator Museum for a guided tour. On display you will find a large and fine collection of early wicker baby and doll carriages along with other children’s things. Homemade of natural fibers and fashioned in artistic, intricate and ornate design and shapes, each carriage is a unique work of art! Before heading back home we will make a stop at Robinson Apple Orchard, where you can purchase pies right out of the oven or fresh fruits & vegetables.
