The Lilac Festival is an annual festival held in honor of the lilac at Mackinac Island. This festival is timed to try to coincide with the week that the Island’s lilacs are in bloom. Bunches of white and purple flowers adorn the whole island. When you arrive on the Island via Shepler’s Church Ferry you will be welcomed by our host, the Island House. Attractions and events are located close by this beautiful hotel overlooking the harbor. A fringe on top carriage will take you to the “Butterfly House", The Grand Hotel for lunch, a tour of the Island and then back to the main festivities. If festivities are not your idea of a relaxing time you can be assured there are many more sights to see, shops to shop and even time to kick back on this quiet and serene island. Homeward bound, you will visit Frankenmuth MI, “Little Bavaria” where you can shop, walk the River Walk or just enjoy the sights of this remarkable little town.
